POP SENSATION SB19 VISITS SENTRO RIZAL, CONNECTS WITH FILIPINO COMMUNITY IN LOS ANGELES

LOS ANGELES, 18 November 2022 – Filipino Pop (Pinoy Pop, P-pop) international sensation and NCCA Sentro Rizal and Youth Ambassadors, SB19, visited Sentro Rizal in Los Angeles and paid a courtesy call on Consulate officials led by Consul General Edgar B. Badajos on 14 November 2022, after their highly successful “Where You At (WYAT) U.S. Concert Tour 2022” held on 12 November 2022 at the Avalon Hollywood Theater. The group also recorded a video in support of Sentro Rizal Los Angeles’ cultural activities.

Later in the day, the group held a talkback forum with the Fil-Am community at the Filipino American Community of Los Angeles (FACLA) Community Hall in the historic Fiipinotown in L.A., organized by the Philippine Consulate General.  The talkback was attended by Fil-Am community representatives and SB19 fans, many of whom came from various parts of Southern California, such as San Diego, and from other States such as Hawai’i, Nevada, and Nebraska.

In a short welcome message at the start of the talkback forum, Consul General Badajos said that SB19, which has been fueling the popularity of P-pop globally, can be a positive force and an effective representation of the Philippines and the Filipino people to the rest of the world. However, for SB19 to help generate an ecosystem beneficial to Philippine economic interests, the Consul General emphasized the importance of support for the group coming not only from fans in the Philippines but more so from the Filipino diaspora overseas.

SB19 then gamely answered questions posed by the event’s host, Ms. Ruby Rodriguez Aquino, as well as queries from fans. The talkback was capped with a performance of SB19’s most popular song, “MAPA”, and a group photo with the audience.
