PASAY CITY— Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro L. Locsin, Jr. and Japanese Ambassador to the Philippines Koshikawa Kazuhiko signed today two separate documents testifying to the strength and vitality of Philippine and Japan relations, which commemorates its 65th anniversary this year.
The Programme for COVID-19 Crisis Response Emergency Support valued at approximately USD 6.86 million contributes to the Philippine National COVID-19 Vaccination Roadmap Strategic Framework by strengthening the current COVID-19 vaccine cold chain and logistics management, through the grant of delivery vehicles and cold chain equipment. The Japanese Government has been unstinting in its commitment to the Philippines’ recovery efforts, previously pledging over JPY100 billion assistance in emergency and standby loans and the recent donation of 1 million Japan-manufactured AstraZeneca vaccines.
The Project for Human Resource Development Scholarship valued at approximately USD 2.99 million is Japan’s long-standing scholarship program that supports two-year Master’s and Doctorate courses at prominent Japanese universities for young officials in the Philippine civil service. The program has benefitted 382 scholars since 2002.
