PFP and UBJP Forge Alliance for Maguindanao Elections

DAVAO CITY—In a strategic move ahead of the upcoming midterm elections, the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) has entered into an alliance with the United Bangsamoro Justice Party (UBJP) targeting local electoral posts in Maguindanao del Sur and Maguindanao del Norte. This partnership was announced during a Sunday night assembly, highlighting a unified effort to bolster governance in these regions and across the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

According to Philippines News Agency, Secretary Anton Lagdameo, Special Assistant to the President and PFP vice president, articulated the goals of the alliance. "We are working together to strengthen our support for President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and improve the region, ensuring peace and effective service delivery to our constituents," he stated during an interview. This collaboration marks a significant step in consolidating political support and enhancing administrative effectiveness in the BARMM.

During the assembly, the PFP finalized and distributed certificates of nomination and certificates of acceptance of nomination (CON-CAN) to its candidates in the two provinces. Notable endorsements include Sultan Kudarat Mayor Datu Tucao Mastura for governor of Maguindanao del Norte and Datu Ali Midtimbang Sr. for governor of Maguindanao del Sur. Additionally, former Maguindanao governor Esmael Mangudadatu, now contesting a congressional seat in Maguindanao del Sur, also received the party’s backing.

The event was well-attended, drawing BARMM Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim and various key leaders from Mindanao, including all incumbent mayors of the region. This large-scale political gathering underscores the significant support the alliance commands within local leadership circles, positioning it as a formidable force in the forthcoming elections.
