P80-M Illegal Drugs Seized, 644 Suspects Nabbed in H1 2025 in Bicol

Bicol: Police seized some PHP80.1 million worth of illegal drugs and arrested 644 drug suspects in operations conducted from January to June this year, the Police Regional Office in Bicol (PRO-5) reported Thursday.According to Philippines News Agency, PRO-5 Director Brig. Gen. Andre Dizon stated that for the first six months of the year, 661 anti-drug operations yielded a total of 80,461.81 grams of marijuana and 10,359.8174 grams of shabu. The operations resulted in the arrest of 644 suspects, among whom 37 were identified as high-value targets, 142 as street-level drug personalities, and 465 as newly identified drug personalities. These arrests led to the filing of 662 criminal cases in courts across the region.Among the region's provinces and cities, Camarines Norte recorded the highest value of confiscated illegal drugs, amounting to PHP30.27 million, followed by Camarines Sur with PHP24.32 million, Albay with PHP12.19 million, Naga City with PHP9.33 million, Masbate with PHP3.55 million, Sorsogon wit h PHP238,420.80, and Catanduanes with PHP181,879.60.The report also highlighted that PRO-5 conducted a total of 962 anti-illegal gambling operations, resulting in the arrest of 2,743 persons involved in unauthorized gambling activities. Authorities confiscated a total of PHP1.4 million in bet money and filed 875 criminal cases against those apprehended.Additionally, 174 operations against illegal fishing were launched, resulting in the arrest of 352 violators. This effort led to the confiscation of marine products and illegal fishing paraphernalia valued at PHP5 million. Out of the total apprehensions, 54 suspects have been formally charged in court for violating Republic Act 10654, which strengthens the implementation of the Philippine Fisheries Code.In the campaign against illegal logging, 185 operations were conducted, leading to the apprehension of 138 individuals and the seizure of PHP1.63 million worth of illegally sourced lumber and flitches. Authorities have filed 32 cases for violations of Pres idential Decree 705, also known as the Revised Forestry Code of the Philippines.Under the Kontra Boga and Bilang Boga programs, which target the proliferation of unlicensed and undocumented firearms, a total of 642 operations were conducted. These efforts resulted in the arrest of 146 persons for illegal possession of firearms, one suspect being neutralized during an armed encounter, and 401 criminal cases being filed in court.
