LIPA CITY — The 22nd installment of the Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair (BPSF), the country’s largest service and convergence caravan, delivered PHP 563 million worth of government services and financial aid to more than 60,000 residents in Batangas this weekend.
According to Philippines News Agency, who also served as the local host and is a former representative of Batangas, the event held in Lipa City featured 50 agencies offering over 200 services. Throughout the two-day event, PHP 563 million in aid was distributed, including PHP 265 million in cash assistance. The Department of Social Welfare and Development alongside the Department of Labor and Employment managed payouts for 34,000 beneficiaries throughout the province.
The BPSF, which first visited the Calabarzon region in Sta. Cruz, Laguna, in November 2023, aims to reach all 82 provinces across the nation. Since its inception last year, the service caravan has provided over PHP 10 billion in assistance to 2.5 million families across 21 installments.
During the opening ceremony at Aboitiz Pitch-Lima Park, House Speaker Martin Romualdez highlighted the initiative's significance, stating, "We are happy with the return of the BPSF following an intensified interest from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in the service caravan, which boosted the motivation of our organizers." Romualdez emphasized the government's commitment to establishing service and assistance centers in every Philippine province, reflecting President Marcos's promise of direct service delivery to the populace.
Romualdez further noted that the BPSF serves as a crucial convergence mechanism for a whole-of-government and whole-of-nation approach to nation-building, ensuring that no Filipino is left behind in receiving government aid and services.
