Over 4,800 Livestock Killed In Floods In Mongolia

ULAN BATOR– At least 4,837 heads of livestock were killed, after rain-triggered floods hit the central-western Mongolian province of Arkhangai, early this week, the country’s National Emergency Management Agency said, today.

Eleven of the animals killed in the floods were cattle and the rest were sheep and goats.

In addition, a total of 10 families have lost their homes, due to the floods, the emergency agency said.

Heavy rains are expected in large parts of the country in the coming days, the agency said, urging the public, especially herders and travellers, to prevent possible disasters.
