Nartatez to Become Second Top Official of Philippine National Police

BACOLOD CITY – Major General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. is set to assume the role of the second-highest official of the Philippine National Police (PNP) starting October 9.

According to Philippines News Agency, Nartatez, currently the chief of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), will fill the position left by Lieutenant General Emmanuel Peralta, who retired in August. The transition was confirmed during an official announcement this Sunday.

With Nartatez moving up, Major General Sidney Hernia, presently heading the Directorate for Personnel and Records Management, will take over as the NCRPO Director. This shift leads to a series of subsequent promotions: Brigadier General Benjamin Sembrano, now Acting Director of the PNP Forensics Group, will replace Hernia. The Forensics Group will then be led by Brigadier General Constancio Chinayog.

Further changes in the PNP leadership include the appointment of Major General Edgar Alan Okubo as chief of the PNP Directorial Staff, succeeding General Jon Arnaldo who also retired recently. These appointments reflect a significant reshuffling within the PNP, aiming to maintain stability and continuity in leadership.
