Cebu: A magnitude 6.9 earthquake rocked Cebu province at 9:59 p.m. Tuesday. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) revised the earthquake's magnitude from the previous 6.7. The tectonic earthquake struck 21 km northeast of Bogo City, Cebu, at a depth of 5 km.According to Philippines News Agency, Phivolcs logged several reported intensities across the region. Intensity V was felt in Argao, Cebu; City of Sipalay, Negros Occidental; City of Lapu-Lapu; and City of Tacloban. Intensity IV was recorded in areas such as San Fernando, Cebu; Bulan, Bulusan, and Casiguran, Sorsogon; City of Roxas, Capiz; and City of Himamaylan, Negros Occidental, among others. Intensity III was noted in the City of Legazpi, Albay; City of Iriga, Camarines Sur; and Donsol, Sorsogon.Instrumental intensities, which are measured using intensity meters, showed Intensity VI in the City of Cebu and Villaba, Leyte. Intensity V was recorded in Esperanza, Masbate; Argao, Asturias, Danao City, and City of Talisay, Ce bu; among other locations. Intensity IV was observed in areas like Bulusan, Sorsogon; City of Roxas, and Tapaz, Capiz; and Moalboal, Cebu.Two consecutive aftershocks followed the initial earthquake, both centered in Bogo City, Cebu. The first, at 10:24 p.m., had a magnitude of 5.0, and the second, at 10:33 p.m., registered a magnitude of 5.1, as reported by Phivolcs.
