Manila: The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has promoted nearly 500 personnel across the nation in 2024 as part of the government’s initiative to tackle end-of-contract (endo) employment and fill the agency’s plantilla positions. This move comes as a significant effort to enhance job security within the agency.
According to Philippines News Agency, LTO chief Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza II announced that 486 employees received promotions last year, with the highest concentration of promotions being in the National Capital Region (NCR), where 106 personnel were promoted. LTO-Calabarzon saw 63 promotions, while the central office in Quezon City accounted for 48.
Mendoza stated that these promotions were long overdue and deserved by every LTO employee who was elevated. He emphasized that the promotions were part of his commitment to address the issue of endo employment in the LTO, a promise he made when he assumed his position in July 2023.
Mendoza highlighted that job security is a fundamental aspiration for every Filipino, and under the Bagong Pilipinas (New Philippines), it should be a priority, especially for government workers. The promotions were granted following a thorough assessment and evaluation of all contract of service employees in the LTO, prioritizing those found qualified for permanent roles.
He further expressed his intention to continue such policies, believing that they could inspire LTO personnel to excel and eventually lead to improved services for all clients.
