Launching Of the Economy Week

Over the last few years, the country has made a significant developments in economy especially in the non-oil and gas sector. This sector has grown by about 5 percent, contributed by new activities and expansion of existing ones. While outlining the matter in the opening remarks titled “Brunei’s Economy Towards Wawasan Brunei 2035: Where are we?”, The Minister At The Prime Minister’s Office And Second Minister Of Finance And Economy, explained that the efforts towards economic diversification must continue, guided by the Economic Blueprint, especially in charting industrial roadmaps and masterplans.

However, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah also said that the formation of economic diversification strategies must be sustainable and always take into account and be mindful of the environment and minimise any climate impact as to ensure the biodiversity remains protected and well-preserved. The Economy Week is held in conjunction with the Brunei Mid-Year Conference and Exhibition, MYCE 2022.

With the theme ‘Towards a Dynamic and Sustainable Economy’, the Economy Week will provide opportunities to review the economic developments, towards achieving Wawasan Brunei 2035. Also present was Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Paduka Doctor Haji Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metussin, Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism.
