China’s Xi Jinping chose not to show at COP26, the United Nations climate change conference with more than 100 world leaders in attendance. Instead, the leader of China – itself the world leader in greenhouse gas emissions – merely offered a written statement that made no significant new pledges on global warming, calling on developed countries to help developing nations “do better.”
