South Korea Introduces Electronic Arrival Card System for Foreign Visitors

Seoul: Foreigners entering South Korea can now complete their arrival card online up to three days prior to their arrival, the justice ministry announced on Monday. The introduction of the new electronic system, known as the e-Arrival card, aims to streamline the entry process and alleviate congestion at airports, ultimately enhancing the experience for tourists.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the e-Arrival card is part of the government’s efforts to modernize the entry process for short-term visitors, including tourists who previously had to fill out paper arrival cards manually upon arrival at the airport. The new system is anticipated to reduce screening times and attract more tourists by simplifying the entry procedure.

The justice ministry has indicated that it will continue to offer the paper-based arrival system alongside the new electronic option until the end of the year. This dual approach is intended to minimize any potential confusion as travelers adjust to the new system, ensuring a smoother transition for all visitors entering the country.
