Manila: Senate President Vicente Sotto III on Wednesday welcomed L¡szl³ K¶v©r, Speaker of the National Assembly of Hungary, during his official visit to the Philippine Senate, reaffirming the two nations’ commitment to deepen bilateral cooperation and strengthen engagement with the European Union (EU).
According to Philippines News Agency, Sotto expressed gratitude for Hungary’s continued support, including the Philippines’ bid for a non-permanent seat in the UN Security Council for the 2027-2028 term. Sotto highlighted the importance of Hungary’s friendship and support in advancing shared democratic values and expanding opportunities in diplomacy, trade, and education.
K¶v©r reiterated Hungary’s commitment to further strengthening relations between the Philippines and the EU. He emphasized Hungary’s dedication to reinforcing ties and relations in all possible forms.
Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri, who joined the meeting, expressed appreciation for Hungary’s long-standing friendship with the Philippines, particularly its scholarship programs that benefit Filipino students studying in Hungarian universities. Zubiri noted Hungary’s positive relationship with the Philippines.
Both sides reaffirmed their shared resolve to enhance cooperation in diplomatic engagement, educational exchange, and economic collaboration, marking another milestone in the partnership between the Philippines and Hungary.
