Seoul: SK Telecom Co.’s upcoming artificial intelligence (AI) assistant, aster, is anticipated to feature integrations with widely used online applications, including Google Calendar. This development is poised to enhance the capabilities of the AI assistant for a global audience.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the AI assistant, aster, is designed to assist users in managing their daily activities by creating to-do lists and arranging transportation and accommodation bookings based on their Google Calendar schedules. Aster aims to streamline users’ routines through planning, execution, reminders, and advice.
The official launch of aster in North America is planned for the latter half of the year, following its beta service debut in March. As an “agentic AI,” aster will operate independently, capable of making complex decisions and executing actions through conversational interactions with users.
SK Telecom is exploring additional integrations for aster with other popular online platforms, such as Yelp for business reviews and taxi-hailing services like Uber and Lyft. The Korean company is also working towards incorporating the AI search engine Perplexity into aster.
“We will decide what kind of application programming interface to adopt for our actual service after receiving consumer feedback from our beta service for North American users in March,” an SK Telecom official stated.
