Manila: Senate President Francis “Chiz” Escudero announced on Thursday that the Senate has secured five additional venues from the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) to improve the efficiency of legislative work, including committee hearings and activities related to the Commission on Appointments.
According to Philippines News Agency, the new venues, named after prominent historical figures, will help facilitate more committee hearings, which are sometimes delayed due to the limited number of meeting rooms in the current Senate building. The additional rooms will also help expedite the legislative process.
The agreement between the Senate and PICC is valid until December 2025, demonstrating a long-term strategy to enhance the Senate’s operational capacity. Escudero said the expansion is a necessary step in meeting the increasing demands of the Senate’s legislative agenda and highlights the Senate’s dedication to effective governance and public service.
