Rescuers Recovered Three Bodies In Indonesian Boat Accident

Indonesian rescuers have recovered the bodies of three missing crew members of a boat, that capsized off Barito River, in the country’s province of Central Kalimantan on Wednesday, a local official said yesterday.

The boat, with four crew members on board, was carrying jerrycans of clean water, and was hit amid bad weather, by high waves off the province’s district of North Barito on Wednesday, at around 6.00 p.m. local time (1100 GMT). A crew member managed to swim to the river bank and was rescued by people nearby.

Rizali Hadi, with the North Barito disaster mitigation agency, told local media that, the bodies of the three victims were found by villagers near a ferry port.

“The three victims were found at different times yesterday,” he said, adding that, they will be taken to a local hospital for further identification.
