Manila: A huge part of the country will continue to experience rains caused by the southwest monsoon or “habagat” affecting Luzon, while the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) will be affecting southern Mindanao, the weather bureau said on Wednesday. Both weather systems will bring scattered rains and thunderstorms over Ilocos Region, Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Abra, Zambales, Bataan, Palawan, Zamboanga Peninsula, Soccsksargen, BARMM, Davao Occidental, Davao del Sur, and Davao Oriental.
According to Philippines News Agency, moderate to heavy rains in those areas could result in floods or landslides, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said. “Habagat” will also bring isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over the rest of Luzon.
The rest of the country will likewise experience isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms. Moderate winds and moderate coastal waters are forecast in the northern and western sections of Luzon. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas.
Meanwhile, as of 2 a.m., no low pressure area (LPA) is being monitored for possible tropical cyclone formation, PAGASA said.
