PNP Mobilizes Resources Ahead of Super Typhoon Nando

Manila: The Philippine National Police (PNP) has mobilized personnel and readied mobility assets in anticipation of Super Typhoon Nando, which is expected to further intensify on Sunday. In a statement Sunday, PNP acting chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. emphasized the preparation’s alignment with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to ensure the safety of the people and communities along the typhoon’s path.

According to Philippines News Agency, Nartatez stated that police units in affected areas were tasked to collaborate with local government units for preemptive evacuation plans. “Our police forces in the affected areas have already been alerted and tasked to prepare in coordination with the local government units, especially in danger zones that include low-lying areas and coastal communities,” Nartatez said.

The PNP is in close coordination with the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, which has heightened its alert status to red alert-the highest level signaling an imminent emergency. Nartatez further instructed police commanders in the affected areas to ensure the safety of the families of police personnel, noting the challenges responders face when concerned about their own families’ safety.
