BARCELONA, 30 September 2022 – In line with the Philippine Consulate General in Barcelona’s community development programs for overseas Filipinos in Barcelona, an “Employment Opportunities Seminar” was organized by the Consulate in partnership with the Barcelona City Council and the Barcelona Activa on 28 September 2022. The seminar was organized to assist Filipinos who are unemployed or those who may have current employment but consider themselves as underemployed.
Participants from the Filipino community were provided information on the process of how to find job opportunities for themselves and their families. The goal of the seminar is for Filipinos in Barcelona to be able to avail themselves of resources offered by the Barcelona City government at no cost to the end user. The seminar also offered other avenues to seek employment, apart from the traditional way that Filipinos in Barcelona look for jobs.
Executive Director Paco Ramos Martin of the Barcelona Activa Office for Employment Opportunities reiterated that Barcelona Activa not only provides resources for employment opportunities but can also help in professional formation in the form of training programs. “Barcelona Activa will utilize its contacts in the private sector so that we can connect them with individuals who need employment”, said Mr. Ramos.
Philippine Consul General to Barcelona Maria Theresa S.M. Lazaro extended her appreciation to the representatives of the Barcelona City Council and the Barcelona Activa for the seminar provided to the participants. Consul General Lazaro also informed that the Consulate will avail itself of the seminars and services being offered by their office and will likewise help disseminate their programs to the members of the Filipino community.
After the one-hour seminar, the participants informed Consul General Lazaro and Cultural Officer Bernardo Bagalay that they all have a positive outlook and that the seminar will open opportunities for them. “With my current status as an unemployed individual, I have high hopes that the resources offered in this seminar will result in a favorable outcome for me” said Ms. Gemmalyn Ramos. Another participant, Ms. Roby Irene Ranin Alivarvar intimated “I was able to receive updates on the programs of Barcelona Activa and found out that they also offer useful training seminars in addition to providing employment opportunities for overseas workers”
