Manila: The government assured commuters that the Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA) Busway will remain operational during the rehabilitation of the thoroughfare which begins this month. In a television interview Thursday, Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro confirmed that the bus carousel would continue to run despite the roadworks and repairs.

According to Philippines News Agency, Castro explained that the EDSA Bus carousel will not cease operations. “The EDSA Bus carousel will continue. We’re looking at how the repairs will not cause heavy traffic, but the busway will not stop operations for our commuters,” Castro stated. The EDSA rehabilitation project includes road repairs and drainage improvements, aimed at alleviating traffic congestion and flooding along one of Metro Manila’s busiest thoroughfares.

Authorities have committed to completing the project before the Philippines hosts the ASEAN Summit in 2026.
