Manila: Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) is preparing for a significant increase in passenger traffic during the upcoming holiday season by expanding the frequencies and capacity of its international flights.
According to Philippines News Agency, from mid-December 2025 to mid-January 2026, PAL will double its Manila-Perth flights from three to six weekly, and increase Manila to Melbourne flights from five weekly to daily.
The airline plans to deploy larger aircraft for select routes to accommodate the anticipated rise in travelers. An Airbus A330 will be used for some Manila-Brisbane flights, while Melbourne services will utilize the A330-300, and Perth flights will continue with the A321neo.
PAL president Richard Nuttall emphasized the airline’s commitment to enhancing its network and meeting demand during this peak travel season. Starting November 25, Manila-Seattle services will expand from three to five times weekly, complementing PAL’s existing daily flights to San Francisco and Guam, twice daily flights to Los Angeles, thrice weekly flights to New York, and five weekly services to Honolulu.
The airline is also increasing its East Asian operations. Between October 26, 2025, and March 28, 2026, Manila-Da Nang flights will increase to daily, and Manila-Busan services will rise from seven to 11 weekly.
In Japan, PAL will offer direct flights between Manila and Sapporo thrice weekly from November 24 to March 27. An additional 12 roundtrip flights will be offered between Manila and Narita from December 18 to January 6, supplementing the regular two daily flights. For the Manila-Osaka route, 12 extra roundtrips will be available from December 19 to January 7, alongside the current twice daily flights.
Additionally, PAL will provide three more roundtrips between Manila and Nagoya on December 25, 27, and January 3, supplementing the daily service. Five extra roundtrips between Cebu and Osaka will be available from December 25 to January 3, on top of the four weekly flights, and four additional roundtrip flights will be added to the Cebu-Narita route between December 28 and January 7.
