Taguig city: The Negros Trade Fair, the country’s longest-running provincial trade fair in Metro Manila, has been instrumental in the success of many Negrense micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the past four decades. This 2025, the trade fair moves to a new location, SMX Convention Center Aura in Taguig City, for its 39th edition set for Sept. 23 to 28.
According to Philippines News Agency, the themed event ‘Himbon,’ a Hiligaynon term which means ‘to gather,’ features 139 exhibitors offering ‘the best of Negros in food, fashion, crafts, and more.’ SM Supermalls president Steven Tan, in a video invitation on Monday, expressed honor in championing the artisans and entrepreneurs behind the Negros Trade Fair, hoping for wide participation in experiencing the best of Negros. Tan highlighted that the fair has celebrated Negrense heritage, creativity, and entrepreneurship for decades and continues to provide MSMEs a larger marketplace for broader exposure and new market exploration.
Association of Negros Producers (ANP) president Christina Gaston emphasized that the Negros Trade Fair is a collaborative project with the Negros Occidental provincial government, which has supported the fair with PHP5 million, acknowledging its long-standing impact. Gaston described the event as Negros’ premier marketing occasion, offering Negrense entrepreneurs a platform for showcasing and selling their products over six days, serving as a springboard for long-term business success.
Gaston further explained that the trade fair provides an opportunity to share stories of Negros, from the Balik-Salig Project communities in the mountains to the ANP’s established brands. The event encompasses the region’s sights, sounds, aromas, flavors, creativity, history, heritage, and culture, enticing potential visitors. ANP’s mission is to nurture MSMEs, and this year, their support extends to the Negros Island Region.
Visitors to the Negros Trade Fair can purchase artisanal products and crafts, sustainable home and lifestyle items, and handwoven textiles and fashion. They can also enjoy world-class food and delicacies, cultural performances, exhibits, and access business networking and investment opportunities. Gaston stated that the Negros Trade Fair is an invaluable platform for business growth through direct engagement with customers, welcoming collaboration.
On Tuesday, the event will commence with the opening and blessing of the booths at 10 a.m., followed by the ‘Arima’ or ceremonial ringing of the bell and cocktails for partners and guests at 3 p.m. The Bacolod Day, featuring the launch of the 2025 MassKara Festival, will be held on Oct. 27.
