Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan’s Attendance at the Virtual Commonwealth Foreign Affairs Ministers’ Meeting, 16 September 2021

Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan attended the virtual Commonwealth Foreign Affairs Ministers’ Meeting (CFAMM) on 16 September 2021, chaired by the Right Honourable Elizabeth Truss, Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs of the United Kingdom. The Commonwealth Ministers discussed global and regional issues of concern, including climate change and the COVID-19 pandemic, and reviewed developments among the Commonwealth countries.

 

Minister Balakrishnan spoke about Singapore’s consistent support for the international community’s fight against the pandemic. Singapore supports vaccine multilateralism and has pledged to donate our allocation of COVID-19 vaccines under the COVAX Facility to other countries. Minister Balakrishnan stressed the importance of advancing the global conversation on digital transformation in order to generate inclusive, sustainable opportunities for all. Singapore will also continue to work closely with the UK and other countries for a successful 26th Conference of the Parties (COP-26) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change taking place in Glasgow, Scotland from 31 October to 12 November 2021.
