Hyundai Motor Group Achieves Record U.S. Sales in 2024

Seoul: South Korea’s Hyundai Motor Group announced on Sunday its achievement of record sales in the United States in 2024, propelled by the demand for SUVs, minivans, and eco-friendly models.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Hyundai Motor Co. and its sister company Kia Corp. sold a total of 1.7 million vehicles in the U.S. market last year, marking a 3.4 percent increase from the previous year. This new record surpasses the former high of 1.65 million units set in 2023.

The data revealed that Hyundai Motor experienced a 4.8 percent increase in sales, reaching 911,805 units, while Kia’s sales rose by 1.8 percent to 796,488 units. Sales of Genesis, Hyundai’s premium line, climbed 8.4 percent year-on-year to 75,003 units.

Hyundai reported a 23 percent rise in sales for the Palisade SUV, totaling 110,055 units in 2024. Meanwhile, sales of the Ioniq 5 electric model surged 31 percent to 44,400 units in the U.S. market.

“Despite global uncertainties, along with regulations such as the U.S. Inflation Reduction Act, the company was able to achieve solid performance thanks to the popularity of SUVs, minivans, and eco-friendly models,” a company official stated.

In 2024, Hyundai Motor Group maintained its position as the fourth-largest automaker in the U.S. market for the second consecutive year. General Motors led with 2.68 million units, followed by Toyota with 2.33 million units, and Ford with 2.06 million units.
