GSIS Confirms Security Incident, Ensures Member Data Remains Safe

MANILA—The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) addressed concerns Friday regarding a recent security breach, confirming that the personal information of its members is secure despite the incident.

According to Philippines News Agency, the breach involved a compromised administrator account on a test computer, which was reported on Thursday. GSIS officials were quick to reassure their employees, members, and pensioners, emphasizing that safeguarding personal information is a top priority and that comprehensive measures are being implemented to protect their systems.

“The affected computer is a test computer and contains dummy data used for the tests,” the GSIS stated, clarifying the nature of the data involved in the breach. The pension fund is actively validating the intruder’s claims and strengthening its defenses in line with the Data Privacy Act to prevent future incidents.

The ongoing investigation aims to determine the full scope of the breach and ensure that all vulnerabilities are addressed.
