DOTr and CAB Urge Local Airlines to Transport Relief Goods to Cebu

Cebu: The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) have issued a request to local carriers, urging them to assist in the government’s emergency response efforts by providing free transportation of relief goods to Cebu.

According to Philippines News Agency, CAB Officer-in-Charge Maria Elben Moro has called on all Philippine air carriers to allocate available cargo space for this purpose. The initiative aligns with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to expedite the delivery of critical assistance to those affected by the 6.9 magnitude earthquake that struck on September 30.

The advisory, which applies to all local airlines, takes effect immediately and will remain in place for 30 days, subject to extension or early termination based on necessity. DOTr Acting Secretary Giovanni Lopez expressed gratitude towards Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, and AirAsia for their support in this initiative. Lopez emphasized the importance of collaboration in alleviating the challenges faced by the earthquake victims.
