Cebu: The Department of Health (DOH) has dispatched additional medicines and medical supplies worth PHP933,647 to earthquake-hit Cebu, reinforcing ongoing emergency response efforts in the province.
According to Philippines News Agency, the DOH reported in a Facebook post that a C-130 aircraft loaded with the commodities took off from Villamor Air Base at 6:58 p.m. to Mactan, Cebu, in coordination with the Office of Civil Defense.
DOH Secretary Teodoro Herbosa stated that the move, carried out under the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., aims to ensure the continuity of emergency health services in Cebu following the magnitude 6.9 earthquake that hit the province on Tuesday.
The additional medical resources include essential medicines, first aid supplies, and other health commodities, augmenting prepositioned stockpiles already available at DOH Central Visayas.
The DOH had earlier deployed five Health Emergency Response Teams (HERTs) to Bogo City. Meanwhile, the Philippine Emergency Medical Assistance Team (PEMAT) remains on standby for rapid deployment to provide backup to local medical responders.
