DFA UNDERSECRETARY FOR CIVILIAN SECURITY AND CONSULAR AFFAIRS MEETS WITH UK AMBASSADOR

PASAY CITY— Foreign Affairs Undersecretary for Civilian Security and Consular Affairs (OUCSCA) Brigido Dulay met with the United Kingdom Ambassador to the Philippines Daniel Pruce on 02 July 2021, where the two caught up on various issues of mutual interest to the Philippines and the UK.

Sharing his experience at the Ministerial Meeting of the Global Coalition against Daesh held in Rome on 28 June, the Undersecretary remarked that the meeting allowed coalition members to reaffirm their commitment to the absolute defeat of Daesh and to address further the threat posed by terrorists affiliated with them. Ambassador Pruce mentioned during the meeting that the successful rescue of British nationals, who were abducted by militants affiliated with Daesh in Zamboanga del Sur in 2019, was a result of the collaboration between the Philippines and the UK authorities.

Undersecretary Dulay also raised the importance of exchanging information and best practices to verify the authenticity of certificates of fully vaccinated individuals for cross-border uses. Ambassador Pruce, for his part, shared that the UK is currently implementing an NHS COVID Pass/App that shows an individual’s vaccination details.

Ambassador Pruce further thanked Undersecretary Dulay for the Department’s cooperation and assistance to the British Embassy in Manila. Ambassador Pruce will end his tour of duty as UK Ambassador to the Philippines next month.
