Manila: The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has issued a Certificate of Finality on the disqualification case against the Duty to Energize the Republic through the Enlightenment of the Youth Sectoral Party List Organization, commonly known as Duterte Youth Partylist.
According to Philippines News Agency, the Commission En Banc released a resolution Tuesday night, noting the decision of the Commission Second Division which found that Duterte Youth Partylist’s registration is “void ab initio,” or void from the beginning, due to failure to comply with the publication and hearing requirements deemed jurisdictional.
The resolution outlined several grounds for the cancellation of its party registration, including untruthful statements regarding the eligibility of its nominees, lack of genuine intention to represent the sector, advocacy of violence or unlawful means, and being funded or assisted by the National Youth Commission. Additionally, violations of election-related laws and regulations were cited, along with actions that mocked the election process.
The poll body emphasized that the withdrawal and substitution of nominees en masse, along with the nominee switching during the 2019 National and Local Elections, undermined the party-list system’s integrity. The resolution stated that with the issuance of the Certificate of Finality and Entry of Judgment, the cancellation of the Duterte Youth’s party-list registration is now immediately enforceable.
