Botolan-Candelaria Transmission Line Restored Amid Ongoing Outages Following Super Typhoon Nando

Manila: The Botolan-Candelaria 69kV Line has been restored as of 12:45 a.m. on Tuesday, but three transmission lines remain down, according to the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP).

According to Philippines News Agency, in its 5 a.m. report, NGCP stated that the San Esteban-Bangued 69kV Line, which services the Abra Electric Cooperative (ABRECO) and became unavailable at 7:42 p.m. on Monday, remains inactive. The other two unavailable lines are the Lal-lo-Sta. Ana 69kV Line, which went out at 9:25 a.m. Monday, and the Magapit-Camalaniugan 69kV Line, which became unworkable around 3:21 p.m. Monday. Both lines serve the Cagayan II Electric Cooperative Inc. (CAGELCO II).

NGCP has mobilized its line crews and is currently conducting patrols to inspect and assess the impact of Super Typhoon Nando (international name Ragasa) on its operations and facilities. Simultaneous restoration activities are being conducted in areas already accessible. The transmission operator noted that the loss of power
might be caused by affected transmission facilities of NGCP or distribution facilities of local distribution utilities or electric cooperatives.

Nando, based on the 5 a.m. bulletin of the weather bureau, continues to weaken as it is forecast to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) this morning due to a marginally favorable environment that it will encounter over the West Philippine Sea.
