Manila: A total of 31 victims of trafficking in persons in the Caraga Region have been provided with government interventions and assistance as of September 2025.
According to Philippines News Agency, this figure was reported by the Department of Social Welfare and Development in the Caraga Region (DSWD-13), through its regional Recovery and Reintegration Program for Trafficked Persons (RRPTP).
Of the total number, 23 were females, comprising 11 adults and 12 minors, while eight were males. The DSWD-13 noted that the data reflects the continued vulnerability of women, girls, and boys, many of whom are targeted for sexual and labor exploitation, and online sexual abuse and exploitation of children.
The report also revealed that the highest number of cases involved victims aged 18 to 30 years old (13 cases), followed by those aged 13 to 17 years old (11 cases). The DSWD-13 explained that this trend highlights how traffickers often prey on individuals in their productive or school years, exploiting their economic dependence or limited awareness.
Through the RRPTP, the survivors were provided with a series of comprehensive psychosocial, social, and economic support interventions. ‘The RRPTP’s mission is to uphold the dignity, rights, and welfare of trafficked persons by helping them recover from trauma and regain self-sufficiency,’ the DSWD-13 said.
The agency continues to strengthen its partnerships with the Regional Inter-Agency Committee Against Trafficking – Violence Against Women and Children and local authorities to prevent human trafficking. The public is urged to report any suspected cases through the RRPTP Hotline: 0949-779-4536.
