PBBM to new medical technologists: Help uplift healthcare system

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Wednesday congratulated passers of the March 2023 MedTech Licensure Exam, urging them to join ongoing efforts to improve the Philippine healthcare system.

‘We are filled with pride and joy as we congratulate our March 2023 MedTech Licensure Exam Passers!’ Marcos said as he retweeted a post by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announcing the results.

‘Together, let’s continue to uplift our nation’s healthcare system. Mabuhay ang mga bagong RMTs! (Long live our new registered medical technologists!),’ he added.

PRC said 4,714 or 76.46 percent of the 6,165 examinees successfully passed the exam conducted on March 8-9.

Two schools garnered 100 percent passing rates in the exam -Velez College and Cebu Doctors University with 143 and 95 successful examinees, respectively.

Sidrey Mel Aldeguer Flores from Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod City is the board exam’s topnotcher with a 92.10 percent rating, the PRC said.

He was followed by Nijell Tiu Potencioso and Khelly Mae Binondo Villarin both from Velez College with a 91.90 percent score.

In November last year, Marcos said his administration is eyeing more public-private partnerships in the healthcare sector to expand access to higher-quality health services in the country.

He said a public-private partnership coupled with strong third-party assessments would ‘address efficiency concerns in dealing with the health needs of Filipinos.’

Marcos, in several speeches, has assured to give importance, support and protection to healthcare workers and other modern heroes.

He said his administration is also finding ways to entice Filipino health professionals to stay in the country.

Medical technologists are primarily responsible for performing tests to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.

C. Luzon tourism workers train on ‘Filipino brand of service’

The Department of Tourism-Central Luzon (DOT-3) is stepping up efforts to strengthen the overall tourism experience in the region.

DOT-3 Regional Director Richard G. Daenos said on Wednesday that a series of Filipino Brand of Service Excellence (FBSE) training programs is being provided to front-liners in the region’s tourism and hospitality industry to equip them with knowledge and skills on rendering good service to tourists the Filipino way.

Daenos said the DOT has been partnering with the various sectors in the industry and ‘this is part of the DOT-3’s goals to advocate service excellence in Central Luzon.’

Among those who already underwent training were the gateway front-liners of Clark International Airport (CRK)

‘An important asset to Central Luzon tourism, CRK is known to be the gateway to Northern Philippines ready to welcome guests both local and international. Apart from its state-of-the-art facilities and newly-mounted routes, CRK now prides on its workforce empowered through the FBSE Program,’ he said in a statement.

He thanked the Clark Development Corporation for taking part in the quest to champion service excellence in the tourism industry.

The DOT official likewise shared insights on how the FBSE training helped empower the boatmen of Barangay Dinadiawan, Dipaculao, Aurora as tourism front-liners.

‘Kababaan ng loob. Isa po ito sa mahahalagang katangian na aming natutunan (Humility. This is one of traits that we learned),’ Rafael G. Opol, a 45-year-old boatman from Barangay Dinadiawan said when asked about his major takeaway from the training.

‘Responsibilidad naming ingatan ang aming mga turista at magpakita ng kabutihang asal sa lahat ng pagkakataon (It is our responsibility to take care of our tourists and show them good traits at all times),’ he added.

Opol is one of the 35 lifeguards and resort staff from the said village who underwent DOT’s training.

Meanwhile, the municipal government of San Miguel, dubbed as the ‘Pasalubong Capital of Bulacan,’ has also partnered with the DOT-3 in training its industry manpower including workers from some popular “pasalubong” or take-home centers, resorts, local cafes and other tourism enterprises

FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup headed back to UAE

The FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup is headed back to the United Arab Emirates, after the FIFA Council appointed Dubai as host of next year’s tournament at the 21st FIFA Council meeting held in Doha, Qatar, today, WAM reported.

Additionally, the Seychelles is set to host its first-ever FIFA tournament in three years’ time, with the FIFA Council also awarding hosting rights for the 2025 edition of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup at the meeting in the Middle East.

Dubai played host to the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in 2009 and, 14 years on, the tournament will return to the Arab world for its 12th edition.

Subsequently, the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup will arrive in Africa for the first time for edition No. 13. With the Seychelles securing hosting rights for the tournament, a nation from every confederation will have organised the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in the 20 years since the inaugural tournament in Brazil in 2005.

In 2025 the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup is set to be staged in Victoria, on the island of Mahé, surrounded by crystal clear waters and coral reefs.

Following today’s FIFA Council meeting in Qatar, FIFA Director of Tournaments, Jaime Yarza, congratulated Dubai, and the Seychelles for being appointed as hosts for the next two FIFA Beach Soccer World Cups.

‘This is a very exciting moment for Beach Soccer as it is the first time that FIFA has simultaneously appointed hosts for two editions of the tournament,’ Yarza said.

‘We are delighted to go back to the UAE where FIFA hosted one of the best Beach Soccer tournaments in history in 2009.

‘At the same time, in 2025 the Seychelles will be hosting its first FIFA tournament, which will complete the tour of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup being hosted in all six confederations.

’63 million viewers around the globe watched the last edition of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in 2021, with each match securing an average viewership of over 2.2 million viewers.
