Director-General of the Department of East Asian Affairs welcomes Delegation of Senior Executives from Agencies within the Communist Party of Viet Nam, and discusses ways to promote cooperation and friendship between Thailand and Viet Nam

On 21 April 2021, Ms. Arjaree Sriratanaban, Director-General of the Department of East Asian Affairs, welcomed a delegation of senior executives from agencies within the Communist Party of Viet Nam (CPV) during the latter’s visit to Thailand under a project of the Royal Thai Embassy and Royal Thai Consulate-General in Viet Nam to promote friendship between Thailand and emerging leaders of Viet Nam.

Both sides exchanged views on the overall relations between Thailand and Viet Nam, including the relations between the two governments, exchanges of high-level visits, trade, investment and cooperation at the people-to-people level. They also discussed the constructive role and close cooperation between Thailand and Viet Nam as members of ASEAN and within various frameworks at the sub-regional level.

This visit to Thailand provided the delegation with the opportunity to meet with various Thai government agencies and Thai private sector, paving the way for closer and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries in the future.

In addition to the meeting with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the delegation also had the opportunity to meet with the Thailand – Viet Nam Friendship Association and the Thailand – Viet Nam Business Council. They also visited the Royal-initiated Laem Phak Bia Environmental Research and Development Project and Chang-Hua-Mun Royal Project, and discussed cooperation with relevant authorities and agencies of the Phetchaburi Province.

Ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines to Thailand paid a courtesy call on Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand on the occasion of the Ambassador’s assumption of duty

On 19 April 2022, H.E. Mrs. Millicent Cruz-Paredes, Ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines to Thailand, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, on the occasion of H.E. Mrs. Cruz-Paredes’ assumption of duty, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Both sides were pleased with the close and cordial relations between Thailand and the Philippines, including the cooperation under the framework of Joint Commission on Bilateral Cooperation (JCBC) and continued mutual support and assistance extended to one another in times of need, particularly during the COVID-19 situation as well as occurrences of natural disasters. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs also extended his condolences to those affected by the recurring natural disaster in the Philippines.

Furthermore, as Thailand and the Philippines will be celebrating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic relations in 2024, the two sides will discuss about cooperation to organise activities to commemorate the auspicious occasion.
