DUO ARRESTED FOR THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE WITH COMMON INTENTION

The Police have arrested two men, aged 28 and 38, for their suspected involvement in a case of theft of motor vehicle with common intention.

 

On 25 September 2022 at about 5.50 pm, the Police received a report of a motor vehicle theft along Tampines Street 81.

 

Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from Police cameras and CCTVs, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identities of the duo involved and arrested them on 25 and 26 September 2022. The motor vehicle was also recovered. Preliminary investigations revealed that both men are believed to be involved in other similar cases of theft of motor vehicles and theft from vehicles. Police investigations are ongoing.

 

Both men will be charged in court on 27 September 2022 with theft of motor vehicle with common intention under Section 379A read with Section 34 of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment term of up to seven years and a fine.

 

The Police would like to advise all vehicle owners to refrain from leaving their car keys in their vehicle, and to lock their vehicle whenever it is left unattended, even for a short while.
