China and ASEAN are each other’s largest trading partners and important investment partners. Recently, Xu Ningning, executive director of the China-ASEAN Business Council, put forward relevant suggestions on enhancing bilateral economic and trade cooperation.

Xu Ningning emphasized that leaders’ cooperation initiatives should be implemented and cooperation consensus should be effectively implemented.

In his speech at the opening ceremony of the 17th China-ASEAN Expo and China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit in 2020, Xi Jinping put forward four major initiatives: first, to enhance strategic mutual trust and in-depth docking of development plans; second, to enhance economic and trade cooperation and speed up The regional economy recovers in an all-round way; third, to enhance technological innovation and deepen cooperation in the digital economy; fourth, to enhance cooperation in the fight against the epidemic and strengthen public health capacity building.

In his speech at the 23rd China-ASEAN Leaders’ Meeting in 2020, Li Keqiang made four major recommendations: one is to work together to combat the epidemic and enhance public health cooperation; the second is to focus on economic and trade cooperation to promote regional economic recovery; the third is to create a digital economy highlight Cultivate new growth points for cooperation; the fourth is to promote sustainable development and enhance the ability to resist risks.

Leaders of ASEAN countries have also put forward relevant suggestions on enhancing cooperation with China.

Both sides should actively implement leaders’ cooperation initiatives.

Xu Ningning emphasized that the two sides should implement the cooperation consensus reached by China-ASEAN and its member states, including:

Xu Ningning said that while implementing the consensus on cooperation that has been reached, new consensus should be continuously expanded to promote a comprehensive, balanced and sustainable regional recovery, strengthen the resilience of economic and social development after the epidemic, and consolidate a community of destiny.
