The Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato' Sri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak will undertake a working visit to Brunei Darussalam on 23 November 2017 in conjunction with the 21st Annual Leaders' Consultation. The Prime Minister will be accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dato' Sri Anifah Hj. Aman, and several other Cabinet Ministers, Chief Ministers of Sabah and Sarawak and government officials.

During the visit, the Prime Minister will hold a meeting with His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam. The visit programme also includes the Official Luncheon hosted by His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in honour of the Prime Minister and Malaysian delegation.

The Annual Leaders' Consultation is one of the most important platforms for enhancing Malaysia-Brunei Darussalam ties. During that meeting, the Leaders of the two countries will be discussing the whole range of bilateral issues, as well as regional and global affairs of common concern. Highlights include the Pan Borneo Highway Project and cooperation in defence, tourism as well as oil and gas sectors.

Malaysia's total trade with Brunei Darussalam from January to July 2017 was recorded at US$0.62 billion (RM2.69 billion). The Prime Minister's visit will provide the opportunity for both sides to explore and further strengthen the existing close cooperation between Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam in various areas of mutual interest.
