The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federative Republic of Brazil His Excellency Aloysio Nunes will undertake a working visit to Malaysia from 5 to 7 September 2017. H.E. Nunes will be accompanied by his spouse, Mrs. Gisele Sayeg Nunes Ferreira and senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federative Republic of Brazil.
During his visit to Malaysia, H.E. Nunes will be holding a bilateral meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs Malaysia Dato’ Sri Anifah Aman. H.E. Nunes is also scheduled to pay a courtesy call on the Prime Minster of Malaysia YAB Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak on 6 September 2017. Both Malaysia and Brazil are expected to explore potential areas of bilateral cooperation and exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual concern.
Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1959, Malaysia – Brazil bilateral relations remain strong and enjoy vibrant cooperation in numerous areas including trade and investment, education, security, defence and people-to-people relations. In 2016, total trade between the two countries amounted to USD2.73 billion, compared to USD2.52 billion in 2015; exports to Brazil were valued at USD709.1 million and imports from Brazil were valued at USD2.02 billion for 2016.
