The National Conciliation and Mediation Board has reported the settlement of the labor dispute involving Eurotiles Industrial Corp. and its workers' union with a P17.75 million benefit package for 157 workers.

NCMB Executive Director Shirley Pascual said the Eurotiles management and the Samahan ng Mangagawa ng Eurotiles - Alliance of Nationalist and Genuine Labor Organizations (SME ANGLO) agreed to settle their labor dispute after several conciliation conferences.

Both parties agreed to an amicable settlement after several conciliation conferences. A total of 89 members of the rank and file were assured to receive a separation package worth P 15.35 million and an additional P2.4 million monetary benefits for 68 union members, Pascual said, in a report to Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III.

Conciliator-mediator Cynthia Foncardas facilitated the settlement and cited the parties for choosing a peaceful settlement rather than pushing through with a strike.

There is always a win-win formula to a dispute, and this remains the best option in labor dispute resolution. Clearly, conciliation-mediation is working to the advantage and benefit of our country's workers and employers, Pascual added.

Eurotiles is engaged in the production of ceramic tiles and tiles adhesives. It is located in Biga, Silang, Cavite. It has around 200 employees.
