Malaysia deplores the violent clashes between the Israeli security forces and Palestinians on 21 July 2017 in the West Bank in which three Palestinians were left dead and many others injured. Malaysia condemns the use of force by the Israeli security forces on innocent and unarmed Palestinians.
The recent clashes in the West Bank are a dangerous development that will further complicate the volatile situation in the Occupied Palestinian territories. Malaysia calls on all parties to refrain from actions that could further escalate tensions in Jerusalem's Old City.
Malaysia reiterates its call for Israel to provide unrestricted access for Muslim worshippers to the Al Aqsa Mosque. Israel must cease any action that can have the effect of changing the status quo of the Islamic holy sites. The sanctity of religious sites should be respected.
Malaysia commends and supports the efforts of His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein, King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and Custodian of the Holy Sites of Jerusalem, to restore calm in the holy city.
