China will realize socioeconomic development targets set by the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and soon become a modern socialist country that is prosperous, strong, democratic, culturally advanced, harmonious and beautiful, making important contribution to the common prosperity and development of the region and the world, Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue said here on Thursday.

The deputy prime minister, who is also a member of the Political Bureau under the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, made the remarks at a reception held on Thursday evening by the Chinese Embassy to Vietnam to celebrate the 70th founding anniversary of the People’s Republic of China.

The deputy prime minister said the founding of the People’s Republic of China is a significant event in the history of China, marking the beginning of a new era of its socialist construction.

Over the past 70 years, especially since the reform and opening-up over 40 years ago, under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, the Chinese people have made great achievements in economic development, their living standards have been improved, and China’s international status and role have ceaselessly increased.

Hue also said Vietnam and China are close neighbors and the two peoples have a long-standing traditional friendship, and the Vietnamese party, state and people always treasure the mutual support and assistance of the two parties and the two countries in their respective revolutionary struggles for national liberation.

In 2020, Vietnam and China will celebrate the 70th founding anniversary of their diplomatic ties. “We hope that with the tireless joint efforts, the fine traditional friendship between Vietnam and China will continue to thrive, the mutual understanding and trust between our two peoples will continue to be enhanced, and our comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership will continue to develop in a positive, healthy manner for interests of the two peoples, the peace and prosperity of the region and the world,” he said.

At the reception, Xiong Bo, Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam, said the People’s Republic of China has made an extraordinary development journey over the past 70 years, and created an unprecedented miracle in human history.

The world today is undergoing profound changes unseen in a century. The need is stronger than ever for the international community to strengthen dialogue, communication and collaboration, resolutely uphold multilateralism, and jointly promote the open world economy, the ambassador said.

China will always follow the path of peaceful development, adhere to equality and mutual benefit, and achieve win-win cooperation. China is willing to work together with all countries in the world to build a new type of international relations of mutual respect, fairness, justice, cooperation and win-win, and jointly build a community with a shared future for mankind, the Chinese ambassador said.

Nearly 900 guests, including senior officials of the Vietnamese party and the government, and representatives of various Vietnamese departments, people from all walks of life in China and Vietnam, and representatives of embassies of foreign countries in Vietnam attended the reception.

During the reception, the guests also attended a photo exhibition about China’s development over the past 70 years, China-Vietnam economic cooperation, the new international land-sea trade corridor, and the beauty of Chongqing, and enjoyed Chinese art performances.
