The Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato' Sri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak will host the 12th Annual Consultation with the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Ir. H. Joko Widodo, in Kuching, Sarawak on 22 November 2017. The Indonesian President will be accompanied by several Cabinet Ministers and senior government officials.
Convened alternately between Malaysia and Indonesia, the Annual Consultation is the highest platform for discussion on ways to further strengthen relations as well as to deepen strategic and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.
The two Leaders will deliberate on bilateral issues of mutual interest as well as explore new bilateral cooperation to further enhance and strengthen the bilateral relations between the two neighbouring countries. Both Leaders will also exchange views on regional and global issues of importance to both countries.
The convening of the 12th Annual Consultation this year also coincides with the 60th anniversary of Malaysia-Indonesia diplomatic relations, commemorating the long-standing and close bilateral relations between the two countries. The bond between Malaysia and Indonesia has continued to strengthen, based upon deeply rooted historical ties which has since evolved into a strong strategic partnership relevant to the 21st century.
A Joint Statement will be issued after the 12th Annual Consultation.
