South Korean Student Dies of Dengue Fever in Pakistan

LAHORE: A South Korean university student has died in Pakistan after contracting dengue fever, as confirmed by the South Korean Embassy. The 23-year-old student passed away last Tuesday while receiving treatment at a hospital in Lahore.According to Yonhap News Agency, the student, who was attending a university in Seoul, had traveled to Pakistan for personal reasons late last month. The student's identity has not been disclosed. The student's father traveled to Pakistan on Saturday to oversee the repatriation of his son's body to South Korea.Dengue fever, a mosquito-borne infectious disease, is known to cause symptoms such as high fever and muscle pain. Severe cases can progress to dengue hemorrhagic fever or dengue shock syndrome, which can be life-threatening.
