Efforts in making 2017 as the promotional year for Start-up and SMEs as mentioned by the Prime Minister during the Budget 2017 presentation was realised by SME Bank with the launch of the i-SMART Programme (SME Bank Upward Migration and Acceleration Programme).
The programme objective is to escalate the business of selected entrepreneurs into the global market.
MITI has allocated RM60 million fund for this programme and it is channeled through SME Bank as the implementing agency.
SME Bank will identify eligible entrepreneurs and they will be nurtured to become Bumiputera SME Champions.
For a start, seven entrepreneurs have been selected to participate in this programme. Minister of International Trade and Industry YB Dato' Sri Mustapa Mohamed launched the i-SMART programme on 24 February 2017 at the Tournament Players Club (TPC) Kuala Lumpur.
