The Police have arrested a 23-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of theft.

On 26 May 2019 at about 11.30 am, the Police were alerted to a case of theft from a shop located at Blk 846 Yishun Ring Road. The victim reported that about $8,500 was missing from the cash drawer in the shop.

Through ground enquiries and with the aid of CCTV footage, officers from Woodlands Police Division established the man's identity and arrested him at the vicinity of Yishun Ring Road on the same day. Preliminary investigations revealed that the man, who was an employee of the shop, is believed to have accessed the shop when it was closed and stole the money. Cash amounting to $8,075/- was seized from the man's possession as case exhibits.

The man will be charged in court on 28 May 2019 with theft as a servant under Section 381 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, he can be jailed for up to 7 years and fined.
