Philippines – Floods and landslides (ADINet, Reliefweb, PAGASA) (ECHO Daily Flash of 9 January 2023)

Heavy rainfall has been affecting northern Philippines (in particular Calabarzon, Central Luzon, and Cagayan Valley regions in Luzon Island) since early January, causing floods and landslides that have resulted in evacuations and damage.

The ASEAN Disaster Information Network (ADINet) reports, as of 9 January, more than 14,200 evacuated people, 11 damaged roads and a total of over 103,000 affected people across Central Luzon (the worst affected Region) due to floods. Tha same source also reports 343 evacuated people in Calabarzon and 254 evacuated people in Cagayan Valley due to floods and a number of landslides.

Over the next 24 hours, drier conditions are forecast over the Luzon Island.
