Oil Firms Announce Upcoming Increase in Fuel Prices

MANILA: Oil firms in the Philippines are set to increase pump prices starting Tuesday, with diesel and kerosene prices rising by PHP0.50 per liter and gasoline prices by PHP0.20 per liter.According to Philippines News Agency, Seaoil, Caltex, and Shell announced in separate advisories on Monday that they would implement the price hikes. Petro Gazz and Cleanfuel also confirmed similar adjustments, raising diesel prices by PHP0.50 per liter and gasoline by PHP0.20 per liter. This development follows last week's reduction in fuel prices, where gasoline was cut by 50 centavos per liter, diesel by 70 centavos per liter, and kerosene by 85 centavos per liter.Recent data from the Department of Energy indicated that, as of October 15 this year, oil companies had already increased prices by PHP2.60 to PHP2.65 per liter for gasoline, PHP2.70 per liter for diesel, and PHP2.60 per liter for kerosene. Year-to-date, there has been a net increase of PHP9.05 per liter for gasoline and PHP6.75 per liter for diesel. In cont rast, kerosene has experienced a total net decrease of PHP2.75 per liter.
