The Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato' Sri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak will undertake an Official Visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain from 15 to 17 December 2017 at the invitation of the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain, HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa. The Prime Minister will be accompanied by his wife, Datin Sri Rosmah Mansor; Minister of Defence and Minister of Special Functions, Dato' Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein and senior government officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The total trade between Malaysia and Bahrain from January to September this year, stood at RM805.73 million. Total exports for the same period were recorded at RM389.10 million while total imports were RM416.63 million.
The Prime Minister and wife will have an audience with the King of the Kingdom of Bahrain, His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa at Shaikh Hamad Palace on 15 December 2017. During the audience, the Prime Minister will be conferred the King Hamad Order for Development award by His Majesty. The award is the highest award conferred by the Kingdom of Bahrain. This will be followed by a dinner hosted by His Majesty King Hamad.
The Prime Minister and wife are scheduled to attend a lunch hosted by the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa at Ghudaibiya Palace on 16 December 2017. The Prime Minister and wife will also have an audience with His Royal Highness Prince Salman preceding the lunch. Later in the afternoon, the Prime Minister and wife will attend the Bahrain's National Day Ceremony at Sakhir Palace in the presence of His Majesty King Hamad.
The visit will further strengthen the existing friendly ties between Malaysia and the Kingdom of Bahrain.
