Northern Samar Launches New Tour Circuits to Boost Tourism and Local Economy

NORTHERN SAMAR — The provincial government of Northern Samar announced the addition of two new tourism circuits to its current offerings, aiming to attract more visitors with unique agricultural and seafood experiences.

According to Philippines News Agency, these new circuits — the fun farm tour and the seafood tour — are designed to highlight Northern Samar’s rich agricultural lands and abundant marine resources. The fun farm tour will allow visitors to explore the towns of Mondragon, Silvino Lubos, San Roque, and Pambujan, featuring activities such as garden-to-table food tastings, farming, food processing experiential tours, and homestays.

The seafood tour, on the other hand, will take tourists through the towns of San Jose and Rosario, where they can enjoy the fresh catch of the day including mud crabs, fish, spider shells (sahang), squid, and shrimp. This tour also includes diving, fishing, food processing, and an ocean-to-table food tasting experience, aiming to provide a comprehensive coastal experience.

The provincial government, under the leadership of Governor Edwin Ongchuan, views these tours as part of a broader initiative to promote tourism, livelihood, and economic development in the region. These additions build on previously established tours, such as the Balicuatro Island hopping tour and the Pacific tour, which showcases towns facing the Pacific Ocean and aims to establish Northern Samar as a top diving destination in Eastern Visayas.

Northern Samar, located on the third largest island in the Philippines and bordered by the San Bernardino Strait, Samar Sea, and the Pacific Ocean, boasts a vast coastal area with 24 towns, many of which are popular tourist destinations such as the islands of Biri, Capul, San Antonio, and San Vicente. The province’s strategic initiatives are geared towards utilizing its natural resources and scenic landscapes to enhance both tourist satisfaction and local economic growth.
