The Police have arrested an 18-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a cheating case.
On 2 June 2019, the man was involved in a road traffic accident along Woodlands Street 31. Through investigations, officers from the Woodlands Police Division established that the man had registered a fraudulent account with a car rental company. The man admitted to have used the NRIC and driving licence which he had procured online to register for an account with the car rental company because he did not meet the criteria to register for an account.
The man will be charged in court on 4 October 2019 for the offence of cheating by personation, under Section 419 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. Any person found guilty for the offence of cheating by personation shall be punished with an imprisonment term which may extend up to 5 years, or be liable to fine, or with both.
