Malta EU Presidency ready to facilitate Cyprus issue settlement


Upcoming Maltese rotating Council Presidency will be ready to facilitate some of the steps in the Cyprus issue settlement, drive the migration "effective solidarity" proposals forward, push Single Market legislation, set up Brexit negotiations and bring the Social Dimension back to the EU public debate, tells CNA, Marlene Bonnici, the Permanent Representative of Malta to the EU.

On the occasion of the upcoming Presidency, on January the 1st, Ambassador Marlene Bonnici, discusses with CNA the priorities of the Maltese working programme and declares the readiness of the Presidency to do what is required to facilitate the settlement of the Cyprus.

In relation to Turkey it does not foresee the opening of new negotiating chapters, but explains that the EU wants to maintain a functional agreement on migration.
